Somaiya School

Candidates should have passed HSC (10+2) or its equivalent examination from any stream from any recognized board/institution and obtained a minimum 50% aggregate marks.

AND

The candidate should have appeared for any of the exams from the following: UCEED / NID-DAT / NIFT / PERA-CET (B.Des) / NATA / MAH-CET (B.Des) / JEE Main Paper 2 and should submit the score card of any of these qualifying examinations. There is no exact cut-off, but the candidates should have received a valid, positive score.

After form filling, admission to the Bachelor of Design programme at Somaiya School of Design takes place through a two-step Design Aptitude Test designed to understand how you think, collaborate, and express ideas.

Step 1: Team Activity - Let’s build together.
A group-based activity focused on collaboration, curiosity, and problem-solving.

Mode: Online (Zoom)
Materials required: None, just curiosity and enthusiasm!

Step 2: Personal Interview - Let’s have a conversation.
A dialogue in presence of a design faculty to understand your interests, experiences, and motivations.

Bring your favourite beverage and your portfolio (if you have one)
Mode: Online (Zoom) or in-person, as applicable.

Financial Aid

Somaiya School of Design, as a constituent college of Somaiya Vidyavihar University, offers financial aid on tuition fees to eligible students. While admission to the programme is based on academic performance, extracurricular activities, and other prescribed criteria, financial aid is assessed solely on the basis of the financial need and economic background of the student or their family. Financial aid, once granted, is applicable for the entire duration of the programme, subject to university norms.

Eligibility for Financial Aid

EWS/BPL: Applicants with a family income of up to ₹8,00,000 per annum may be eligible for up to 100% concession on tuition fees.
Persons with Disabilities (PwD): Applicants with benchmark disabilities (40% or more) may be eligible for a 50% concession on tuition fees.
Defence Personnel: Wards of defence personnel who are disabled or deceased in the line of duty may be eligible for a 50% concession on tuition fees.
